What's A Library System?

Wisconsin has 16 state-funded public library systems throughout the state. Each library system provides services to its member libraries in order to maximize resources and share costs. Wisconsin’s library systems developed in distinct ways in response to the needs of their member libraries and area residents. No county or public library is required to be a member of a library system; yet, as of this writing, all of Wisconsin’s 72 counties and more than 380 public libraries are library system members.

For more information, please visit the Public Library Development Page or the map of Wisconsin library systems on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction‘s website.
