What is a library system?
Wisconsin has 15 state-funded public library systems throughout the state. Each library system provides services to its member libraries in order to maximize resources, share costs, and to carry out the service requirements set forth in Chapter 43 of the Wisconsin Statutes.
Wisconsin’s library systems developed in distinct ways in response to the needs of their member libraries and area residents. All of Wisconsin’s 72 counties and public libraries are library system members.
